Been trying to get a good image of a Giraffe for a while...I find them hard to photograph...This is a attempt I feel which is moving in the right direction...Your thoughts would be appreciated!

I think you are going in the right direction Dumay. Would suggest using a circular polariser to help punch up the sky on something like this.

Might try dropping the red channel (black) in Selective Col and masking the giraffe as it might give it a cleaner feel with a slight hint of brightness +8?

    Dumay,

I heartily agree that Giraffe are difficult to capture a good image of in particular when tou go for the entire animal. In this case I think some cropping from top and LHS might increase the impact.

I agree that giraffe are hard and that you are heading the right way. It looks as if the giraffe has a large bump on the hindquarters, did you notice what it was?

I think Steve has made some good suggestions regarding pp.

Thanks for the comments folks...I personally like the comp as is, but have tried Steve's suggestion and also a touch of lifting of the shadows.

Dumay - Nice job on the repost. Add me to the list of those who think giraffes are difficult to photograph.

Dumay I like the repost and the tall grass and BG make the image work. I also like the comp as is.

I too find them tricky but this is nice - the repost is a definite improvement with more "punch"
I would crop just a tad from the top as the sliver of cloud is vying for my attention :)
