Hey everyone...I got back from a 3-week trip today which included a week in Botswana's Savute and Okavango Delta regions.

I will try and catch up on some of the recent postings and offer my 2cents, and will hopefully get back into the swing of things soon!

This Plains Zebra close to the Savute Elephant Camp was biting off chunks of dirt from a termite mound, presumably to get some additional nutrients into her diet.

Cool opening shot Morkel and welcome back.. The image looks nicely processed with good depth & detail, with some great light. Did you swing by the camp and see the elephants drinking at the water hole?

Drop me a line when you have caught up with sleep and general bits & bobs, we can play catch up.

    thanks Steve...
I was staying in the camp, so saw the elephants daily ...and the waterhole is submerged below the flowing Savute channel now!

Will hit you up soon...no catching up on sleep, back to work tomorrow

Nice to see the Zebra still in the area at this time of year, clearly now that there is permanent water the "migration" to Linyanti is no longer necessary.

Very nice image of behaviour I cannot in all honesty recall sseing before.

    How was Savute?

Hi Morkel, good to have you back...nice shot indeed, lots of good detail in the zebra and the mound, and a complimentary background to set it off against. There is a word used to describe this behaviour, it is called geophagia. Thanks for sharing an interesting pic..
    cheers
