I'm not really posting this one for a critique....I just think it's cool what can show up on my moth sheet. These are probably moth eggs but I don't know that for sure. The majority of what's attracted to my moth sheet aren't moths.

These are the settings I use for nighttime moth photography.

    Canon EOS REBEL T1i
    Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro
    Manual mode
    1/500"
    F18
    ISO 200
Canon 430EX w/extended bounce card: On, Fired

Very cool looking contrast against the white texture of what I'm guessing is the moth sheet, Ken, the eggs are so perfect they almost look like they have been commercially manufactured!

I don't know anything about moths, but just for fun I did a google images search.

Looking some of the images, these could be Virginia Ctenucha (Ctenucha virginica) eggs.

You sure do come up with things I never see, Ken! Awesome placement of the insect in the corner as if she's overlooking the eggs. I also think this is very bright but like it that way - it sure screams spring!

Nicely composed, I like the combination of round eggs and the squares in the structure.

Odds are against the eggs belonging to Ctenucha virginica. That's a day-flying moth and these eggs were laid in the middle of the night. I'll keep an eye on these to see if I can catch what they hatch into.

Here's a small sampling of what shows on on my moth sheet.

Here are the identified moths I've seen so far this year. I have another 50 or so that I haven't been able to identify yet.

Hi Ken. Nice job on all the technical aspects of the photo. The comp is appealing with the fly in the ROT position. I expect it's just coincidence, but the fly looks like it's either tending the eggs - or deciding which one to eat first.

    Hey Ken,
I remember you get some pretty cool stuff in that cloth! Thanks for sharing something we don't often get to see!

Ken, this is a great shot showing the eggs. The insect is an added bonus. Nice capture!

I'm glad y'all enjoyed this. There are a lot of cool critters that come to the sheet that are rarely seen during the day. If I knew I would have the time, I'd capture a few and would take better shots during the day.

Steve, yes it was purely coincidence that the fly is there. I was focusing on the eggs and the fly decided that was the time to take a stroll across the eggs. It worked out quite well.
