    Default Tricky landing....

    1D Mark IV, Canon 600 f4, 1/1250, f6.3, iso 800, HH
    Taken a couple of days ago here in Sydney. Landing is not such an easy business for the Grey-headed Flying Fox. Unlike birds, the Flying Foxes being huge bats (1 meter wing span) don’t stretch their legs forward to land on the perch. They basically grab the perch after flying pass it. These bats also don’t flap their wings so fast like birds so cannot manoeuvre as easily. Landing looks often like crash landing - not very elegant…

    this is fantastic Ofer - great light, pose and exposure.
    I like the bit of vegetation "trapped" below the branch as it adds some context.
    Would love to see a few frames after this one - the "crash" as it were?

    Love your description Ofer, it is mirrored by the look of concentration and concern in the bat's eye. A really wonderful series of images.

    Good shot here Ofer, lots of detail, good light, exposure and techs all look top-notch. You are the master of Australian flying mammal photography it would seem..well done
