Default Birds of Panama - Southern Lapwing

A small group of these lovely birds was feeding along the edge of the Chagres River, Gamboa in the old canal zone. Lovely evening and I was able to walk close to them and get down in the grass, hope you like it; I choose this one as it shows a raised foot out of the grass.

Very pretty shorebird, and I like the dab of colour on the shoulder. I agree a pose with the raised foot which is likely much more dynamic than two feet hidden in the grass. Pity the one blade against the black breast though! Good on you for getting low, it minimized what looks to be a busy background and gave us a nicer perspective on this guy. I do find the large pale streak in the BG distracting though, and I would lighten the eye and area surrounding it.

Nice low angle. If your ethics allow, I would consider removing the grass from the breast and perhaps the one in the background behind the head. As Daniel says, dodging the eye would improve the image. Were you staying around Gamboa, or was it just a trip from Panama City?

    Thanks Daniel and Ben

Ben, stayed at Ivan's B&B in Gamboa, can walk to Pipeline and the Resort from there.

How was Pipeline this year? I got the feeling that bird-wise it has gone off the boil a little the last couple of years.

Look forward to seeing more images from your trip.

Well, I walked it 5 times about 5 km in from the NP boundary.

It varied, time of day seemed irrelevant also.

TBH it was tough for pics, saw plenty but getting them on camera, ha , thats another story.
Lots of list tickers around; Blue Dacnis aint so spectacular at 500m lol
Disappointed with mammals too, the usual Capuchins and Howlers.

Ornate Eagle was reported the day before I got there :-(

On the other hand Gamboa was loaded with birds.
Oh did see Gray breasted Crake at Ammo
