Spectacular bird, wonderful singing pose, nice perch and a lovely BG. Nicely done as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shot, Alan. Great pose, perch, BG, colors and subject are wonderful. Everything is great, one thing catches my eye and I can't tell for sure, but is the lower beak soft? It might be an illusion or It may be due to motion, but your SS is fast enough, so I wouldn't expect that. Just curious.

Hey Tom, the lower bill is sharp. I think what you are seeing is both edges of the lower bill, which can look like a motion blur effect. Hope that helps.

Really like the singing pose and the great colors in the flowers and the blue in the head.

Superb image, Alan. Stunning bird - one I'd love to photograph.
I love how the bird is framed by those wild flowers. Has a very natural look.
    Is this a setup?
Superb bg, perfect dof, sharpness and pose.

Gorgeous work as usual Alan. I love the color. These birds are great singers. I was photographing indigo buntings singing yesterday, and was wondering if you could suggest a minimum shutter speed to ensure sharpness of the head and bill.

Hey Julie, I would try to get the shutter over 1/600 at a minimum. Hope that helps.
