WOW:eek: Love the pose!!! Bill open, feet clutching at the perch..... Awesome.

The bird has a very unnatural appearance. Very interesting photograph!!

    Dumay:

This one is really neat with interesting pose, sense of action, strong lines and colors.

    Sharp, nice angle in frame.

Looks like maybe a bit of CCW rotation based on far shoreline and waves, but close.

If situation allowed, would have been interesting to shoot at different heights to move the shore line in relation to the bird up or down, but I think this is really a pretty good placement

    Nicely done.

    cheers

Beautiful image, Dumay. The techs all look great allowing me to enjoy the dymamic landing pose of the bird.

Thanks Randy, moving around was not a option at all...It happened so fast. Also regarding the shoreline it is actually a dam and the water line does fluctuate. This is where the dam shore line bends downward slightly on the right hand side of the image, but I can see why the line does look off though...Appreciate the comments folks!

Dumay, I liked this a lot. All the usual tickboxes are checked...shooting angle, bird angle, BG, exposure, sharpness, composition....but its the combination of bill-open, raised-foot , HA and the raised wings that make it so special. Not something you get to see every day. Strong lines and curves as well....which is why I like egrets and herons so much.

Tad more room above and to right, if you have, will improve it IMO.

Excellent whites here mate, and you have exposed this nicely. Good detail throughout, sharp, and I like the timing of the raised leg. Mankwe rocks , but not last weekend

Wow, Love the action and moment captured on this one. Open bill, raised and grasping foot and outspread wings. You got it all.

    Very nicely exposed as well.

Nice simple bg and great looking perch as well.

    Good for you.
