Taken this evening, fresh for this month's theme. Quite overcast and drizzly, but with the bright white water my goal was to get a high-key image off of it.

This fella flew in close to me as I was photographing some Red-winged Blackbirds, but not close enough and behind some reeds. I tried audio, and sure enough it came right onto the rock in front of me within seconds. A few frames later it saw me and flew back behind the reeds.

Canon 30D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/125s., f/6.3, ISO 800, +2 EC, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp (~75% FF), white-wash cleaned from rock via clone tool, and some of the brighter wet reflections darkened via burn tool.

    Burn Tool - Good Man!
You have a good looking subject, that is nice and sharp.
The perspective and eye contact holds the viewers interest.
IMO a little off the right and perhaps a warmer WB would make this an even stronger image.

I agree with James about the crop from the right. Good job on taming the reflections on the rocks.

Like the raised foot, exposure and sharpness.

    Cheers

Daniel, excellent stuff as always. I really like the textured rock, pose and the subject placement. Very well done.
