Meet Sammy, the farm dog at the farm where I work. She's a very sweet, lovable dog though a tad overeager with her greetings sometimes. I applied two textures from Shadowhouse and three of my own textures. I also converted to B&W midway through the texture stack and added a slight blur overlay.

Very nice, Christopher. I like the pose. Excellent use of texture to bring out so much character. Nicely done.

This is out of the park, Christopher! I think it really brings out the essence of the dog. My one comment would be to consider removing the one extra long whisker towards the back of her cheek - I'm not sure that really needs to be there as it breaks the flow of the hairs going in the opposite direction. Everything else is superb.

Hey, what made you decide to change over to b&w at one point? I'm curious...

Soft and natural looking, I like the peaceful feel to this and the processing is great.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments.

Jules, there really wasn't any specific reason that I converted it to B&W. I had finished all the texture work and liked how it looked, but for some reason I kept playing with it and happened to try inserting a channel mixer layer part way through the layer stack. And it so happens that I liked the result of that even better than the full color version I had before.

Love the antique-look treatment of the image and also the dog's expression.
The contrasting colors of the ears makes it even better.

I agree, the sweet, gentle expression that you captured really makes this one, Christopher.
You made good choices all around with texturing, B&W, and softening. This is really excellent, nice work!
