Hi Kerry, with the light tones of the pelican this is one of the most successful high-key bird images I've seen recently. Elsewhere I've read several arguments (mostly from a fashion photography perspective) that 'real' high key is that much more than a white background, and should have light tones (of white) throughout. Perhaps it could have been even more successful with some mist rising over the rock and legs, or with a reduction in contrast on the pelican's back/wings.
That's perfection for me Kerry. I really love the look the soft but bright light brings to the image. The simplicity is fantastic as is the pose and head angle. Love the rock perch too.
