Default Theme - High key Breakfast

I got up at 4.00am yesterday morning to visit my favourite birding spot in the Pilanesberg nature reserve, and to catch up with my good mate Gerrie for some fun shooting. When I left my house, the sky was open and full of stars. An hour an a half later, when I arrived, it was unfortunately overcast for the whole day. Well I had to make the best of what was there, so I thought the high key theme would suit most of my images from the day. As the sky BG was already light, I further lightened it in PS. Nothing really more done to the image.

Looks like the weather was atrocious. Well I know it was I was around the corner...Sorry I didn't make it yesterday, but I just didn't feel like wasting shutter cycles in that weather. Hope it was slightly productive for you after the long drive.

Well I'd say you did great for the monthly theme of high key. Love this action capture and that gaping mouth. Might try lightening the fish a little bit.

Nice job with the exposure Stuart. Good timing with this frame. I do wish the OOF perch wasn't so large in the frame.

Stuart, Great looking high key image. I do wish more of the perch were in focus but I'd still love to have this one.

    Stuart,

You made lemonade from a lemon of a day and caught some action that alot of photographers would love to have captured themselves. We never know what awaits us as we walk out the door with our cameras.

Stuart, Don't you hate when that happens with a plan? You made the most of it and I love the bird and his prey. I do find that oof perch unfortunate tho.

    Stuart:

Excellent timing, agree about the somewhat overpowering OOF portion of the perch.

If flash is allowed from the hide, def. would have been tempted to use a wisp of fill to bring up more detail in the darks . Even with very soft light, I find fill helpful on some birds.

Thanks a stack Randy. Yes, flash is allowed, and should I encounter another lousy day like Sunday, I will try the results. ( thats if I dont turn around and go home. )
