    Excellent detail, especially on the head. I like how the colors of the eye and bill stand out.

    Gary - nice pov and good detail. My only nit would be that I would prefer to see the rest of the reflection.

    Hi Gary, nice capture and sweet subject! Nice head angle, eye contact, color rendition and composition. I have to disagree about the reflection - if it doesn't add to the image (as in "like a mirror image), it is best to crop them out. I can see that the water was not still enough to make this reflection whole, so you did the right thing by cropping it out. The whites are hot in the coverts but there is not much detail to be had there anyway. Still best to keep the whites constrained to the 240s. I like the wake in front, really adds interest! Oh yeah, love the punk "feather-do" also.

    Thanks to all for C & C. Excuse the delay in response. I was away for a few days. This has been a good spring for Red-breasted mergansers.
