Love everything about this especially the long beak of this female. Please note however that when the bird angled toward you the head needs to be on straight. It is not enough to have the head parallel to the back of the camera.....

    Beautiful image.
Your style (this and the dipper) is unique and very well done.

I like the low angle and eye contact. However, light wasn’t great and body is soft due to motion blur. I don't agree with this "needs to be" concept. An image works or it doesn't (which is personal). There are no set rules - especially all this nonsense about head angle - plus minus a few degrees. There are so many factors which make a good image so being obsessed with HA (head angle) is really silly IMHO.

    Lovely low angle shot.

I agree that your style, and in particular the manner in which you include habitat is unique and very well done.

For this photo I wonder about the use of such a low ISO. I am not sure what would have been gained or lost in the water or bg with a higher ss or more dof. Both water and bg work very well in this case but to my eye the bird seems to suffer a bit.

Also as a personal preference I might try for a slice off the oof bottom.

    Lovely photo.

Ofer, here, with the bird's head turned slightly away from the viewer the face is not as well illuminated as the rest of the bird. That may be nonsense to you but it is not to me. As a result of the poor head angle this image does not work for me. One man's obsession is another's concern with small but important detail.
