Allen - great behavioral shot, well captured. Nice detail, pov and dof and I like all the green algae (?) on both.

Cool shot! Great look on the gator, and the soft light avoids nasty reflections on the crayfish... Love the low intimate point of view.

Can you tell a little about how and where you got it?

Hi Ignacio, I got this shot while visiting the swamp region of Louisiana, USA. I was actually photographing birds at a rookery there from shore. A girl and her mom saw my camera and told me they had just seen this baby alligator eating something. I walked over to it and saw this guy just begging to be photographed. Most of the alligators I saw there were adults so I was fortunate and appreciative to get this shot in the wild.

Good catch for both of you! Really cool image Allen, great pov, colors, comp, and sharpness. I like it.

Nice capture, Allen (great first name, too ). Love the colors and detail.

Either that crawfish is huge or that is one tiny baby alligator - the scale comparison amazes me.

Yes you got lucky, but as they say, luck favors those who are there working for it...

You make your own luck in the field IMO.

I also like the shot, great behavior and the gator seems to be looking right at you !

If there was one thing I'd change, and its not a biggy, The curvey stick and the single straight blade of grass on the left are drawing my eye away from him. (the ones over his skin). I'd be inclined to nuke those, or tone them down maybe to make a good print.

    Regards

Hi Allen nice to see a different species here.

I like the low profile and the slight angle of the gator, the eye certainly has it. Can't really comment on colour as I am viewing it on my laptop as I am away, but initial looks are good., nicely exposed too. Not sure if this is FF or not, however if not, then I would like to see more room below for the legs & feet and the whole crop moved to the right, about half way. As I feel there is really only dead space after the leg and the main focus, the head and prey could do with more room to the right.

I like the eye contact from the gator and the crawfish. Nice angle and lots of detail.
