One of my better Black Bear shots to date. This sow stood up to get a better look at the approaching family of deer.

This is 95% full frame cropped from a horizontal frame.

    Techs...

    Camera Model Canon EOS 7D
    Lens EF400mm f/5.6L USM
Av( Aperture Value ) 5.6 - I went out again on Tuesday night and started getting much better results at F7.1

Hi Jamie, I very much like the upright stance and the paw position. Also looks as if you have done a nice job of the high iso capture. The image looks well processed to me. I would have liked a touch more space below. I like the grass in the bear's mouth. I would have liked the tangled BG a little less prominent around the bears head. Nicely done in what was obviously quite low light.
    cheers

HI Jamie, lovely posture and you have captured great detail in the black fur. Agree with Grant about more space below. Look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was at a less than ideal angle and had bushes between me and the Bear so unfortunetly I dont have anymore room on the bottom. Extending the canvas should be easy enough.

    Appreciate the comments.

    Thank you

Wondeful catch. Love the pose and expression. Agree on the BG being a bit distracting - maybe toning down the dead grass in back would be an improvement.

Jamie - nice pose and the grass in the mouth adds to the image. Agree with the others about space below.

Good image Jamie, and would agree on the points raised by Grant. I am hoping that with the better weather, richer habitat you will be able to avoid some of the points raised. Trust that using high ISO will also come down with the Summer looming. Certainly the detail and quality of image is coming through on this one. Well done Jamie.

Thanks guys. The males have been coming out recently so the sows and cubs have made themselves scarce. It will pick up again soon once the berries come out and then hopefully I can get some images in better conditions. Lovin it though. A real experience to watch but cant get carried away and forget my bear smarts.

Feedback is very helpful, thank you

    Jamie
