    Default Bobcat (wild)

I happened upon this cat in Southern Ca. last week. It was very willing to allow close approach! We saw another cat flee the area while we observed this one up the tree about 15 feet! We think it was treed by a more dominate individual? At any rate, this cat stayed put for at least 2 hours!
This image a full frame. Converted in Capture NX2, selectively sharpened with CS3, usm. BG noise reduced with Noiseware Pro. The light was very harsh and slightly back lit. I used fill flash at -2 stops. I reduced the flash highlights in the eyes. Attempted to tone down the blown whites but they are pretty bad. But, for an opp at a wild Bobcat upclose, I'm happy

Nice one Dan, I am not sure if this needs a slight boost in contrast.

Pretty good image of an unusual species for BPN, well done in capturing this. Like the detail on the cat, and the eye contact, as well as those ears..what a beautiful cat. I would crop a little more from the left side and left bottom, to remove some of the hot whites if you cant tone them down..

Beautiful! The expression is so powerful that the bright whites are not that important - I would've hardly noticed them if you hadn't mentioned.

The one thing I find detracts a little from the cat's face is the strong bright blue, I'd try to desaturate it just a little.

What a great opportunity and well captured. You did well in the conditions with nice detail. I like the direct eye contact. TFS

Congrats on catching such an elusive subject! Agree on perhaps cropping some of left to remove blown areas. very well done overall.

Dan - an exciting sighting and captured well under tough lighting conditions. Great pose in the tree and the eye contact makes this image.
