    Default Tiny wings

40D. 400f5.6L at f/6.3. iso 400 1/1250s. warm evening light....so left the WB as-is...room to experiment there, I guess. cropped from horizontal.

This is a Mute Swan cygnet. Tame birds so reach is not the issue. However, the challenge is isolating one( out of the 4 and 2 adults as they always stick together) and HA...which I find always very difficult with ducklings.

I wish I had captured the full bird. I was focussing on another individual through the viewfinder and keeping the other eye on the action around. I saw this one going for the wing flap and quickly swung the lens to grab it. Did not get a chance to go vertical.

    All C&C welcome.

    Kaustubh:

Very sweet, sharp, well exposed, good head angle, OK with crop.
The soft downy texture comes across well.

Not the most impressive wing flap I have ever seen, but he doesn't have much to work with yet!

    Cheers

Wonderful image Kaustubh love the muted tonalities and water drops on the Cygnet.

    Very cute!!
Love the soft look and excellent BG and detail.
I like the crop/comp for the body but maybe take a bit off the top.

Kaus, cuteness factor 10/10 here. I like the light, detail and sharpness, and the little guy needs to do a whole lot more flapping.

Sweet shot Kaustubh! Love the pose, background and sharpness. I think this little one is giving you all it's got with the wing flap! So cute-wish it were mine. I might evict the spec. highlights on the bill near the face.

A perfect 10 for the cuteness factor. Amazing light, pose, bg and details. Full bird would have been killer.
    Very nice image. TFS.
