This is an image from my Arches National Park trip this winter with Roman K. Canon EOS 5DMK2 , 17mm, f/4, ISO 100, 1 hour exposure, using Romans straightforward approach to star and star trail photography. See the review link on BPN's home page.
Hi Nick, The image is very well handled technically. Just enough lighting on the rock not to be overpowering but still shows detail. I also like how the center of the trail is on a diagonal opposing the center of the arch. The light gradient is also appealing. Well handled!
Hey Nick,
I rememeber this! I think you've got a bit of a halo introduced from PP'ing....most noticable for me in the opening. Easy fix. I would also consider going a bit darker on the lower sky 1/2 or tweaking the contrast a bit.....to make the colors of the trails pop more.....just be careful to not overdo it and lose the colors (i do that sometimes). Thanks for reminding me that I've got to get working on some of mine!
HI Nick
wow nice image good placement of the rock in the forground it has just enough detail not to over power the rest of the image, good color on the star trails.
thanks for sharing
