Things are getting a little frantic with the Dusky Moorhens

The image did not need the -1. This was a mistake.

    Thanks Tom.

Way cool. Both sharp. Bummer about those reflections; what were they?

Is Dusky Moorhen the correct species name? The dusky one is a juvie.

Arthur - Those reflections are trees in the background. They have an almost cream coloured bark. To have the sun behind me I had to have those trees infront of me. This is an adult chasing off an immature.

Common Name - Dusky Moorhen or Waterhen (Gallinula tenebrosa).

Good job in getting both in the frame Tom. I am afraid both birds are a bit too soft - not surprising considering the relatively slow shutter speed and hand held. For future attempts I suggest at least 1/2000 and camera mounted on a tripod with a decent head like the Wimberley.

Ofer - may have been a bit slow for hand held and these guys are explosive - things happen quickly as you no doubt know. I do have a couple of images that are at higher SS's (1/1600 & 1/2000) and these are sharper images.

Good DOF Tom, and well done on getting both in the frame. These guys always produce action.

Nice action captured Tom emphasized with the splash and wingtip blur. Great eye contact on both.
