    Default Swamp Sparrow.

From this morning. This species holds its' name well...I was standing in about ten inches of swampy water while creating this image. Last year's bent dried-up reeds made for nifty perches - but the trick was to find one with a beautiful uncluttered background.

Canon 30D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/6.3, ISO 800, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, audio used to lure the subject closer.

Nice image Daniel! I like the exposure, details and sweet BG. I wish the perch was a single reed strand but it is still a beauty.

Dan, Love the pose, HA, perfect EXP, sharpness, and the double perch. But not the dried leaf on the bottom frame edge...

Very nice - I like both images. The double perch works well. Is this a species that will come strait in to a playback call?

The sparrow is well placed in the frame, and I like the colours and detail on him. Glad you found an uncluttered BG, and the colour of the BG compliments him very well.

Thanks Artie - I came oh so close to cropping that out myself. Now I'm convinced.

Tom: it's hit and miss (like most species). Some don't come in at all, some come straight in at once, and this one I was about to give up on it when it landed.

Glad to be of help. It took me a lot more time to move your SIG and do the frame than it did to crop it! How did you make that slightly shadowed frame in your ORIG?

I didn't do anything for that...maybe a sharpening/resizing thing that accidentally happened there...
