Nice one Jack. Beautiful setup with the choice of perch and BG. The pose and head angle really show off the bird. I'll suggest some adjustments that I think you might want to consider. Although the BG is good I think it could be better if you tone down the really bright swath to the right of the head, and lighten up the dark line at the top. Although I like the crop as is, another option would be to crop some off the bottom maybe to a leg-length below the tip of the tail. This would enlarge the bird in the frame and put more emphasis on the beautiful subject. I would also run another round of sharpening on the bird- I tried this in Photoshop and the image can take it.

Jack, this is a sweet capture! This is another bird I've been trying to get for quite a while and they are very elusive. Nice pose and head angle with a lovely background in your setup. I agree with John about the bright area and I do think the crop from the bottom would make the image stronger overall - especially cropping away the "extra" branch of the perch. Well done!

    Default Sweet little bird!

Such a sweet looking little bird. Haven't seen any of them around my home, but I see them frequently at my brother's house in central Texas.

I agree with the crop idea, but overall, a very nice capture.

Thank you John, Kerry, and Martha. John about sharpening- when I leave acr and open a file in photoshop

the file usually already looks oversharpened. It can even look crispy. Something may be wrong with my

program. I do no sharpening in acr, only use the clarity slider. Thanks for your responses.

    Jack
