    I Realize its not your typical BPN image. Posting it busy background, sticks going every which way, subjects not all perfectly sharp, warts and all.

    Seldom do you get to observe the chicks as the Kites typically build their nests deep in the reeds. The state also posts signs in their nesting areas limiting how close you can approach.

    13-16 days old respectively.

    MKIII, EF500@2x, 1/1000, f/8, ISO 400, HH from boat.

    You were so lucky getting the male on the nest here with the 2 chicks. The environment looks great to me but light looks a bit harsh. Regardless, this is a keeper all day long b/c it is so rare to capture these kites while in the nest. I wonder if you could tone the highlights down just a tad in PS.It might be worth a try.

    I am fine with the reeds. The poses of the two little ones are perfect. And you had a good clear view of all the birds. Only the relatively high sun and the resulting shadows detract for me.
