This Scrub hare was shot early in the morning, about 7.30am according to camera records and I somewhat surprised to still see this guy foraging around, as he would be easy pickings for the large raptors. He would hop around, stop and listen then move on, ears constantly tuning in to the slightest sound or movement and then in a flash, he was gone.

Steve - fitting post for Easter week. Nice detail and pose. I like the veins in the ears and the eye is great.

Love the ears and the backlighting really works well to accentuate those ears.

Steve, I agree with previous comments. This is an excellent image of an animal I've found somewhat elusive. Love those ears and as Rachel said, very suitable for Easter.

    Default Love it!

This reminds me of our Texas Jack Rabbits (really hares) when I grew up. They'd be seen running alongside the car seemingly for the joy of running!

I, too, love the back-lit ears. Exposure seems right on! His eye and ears show his alert attentiveness to his surroundings, and you captured it well!

    Steve,

    Very nice!

If possible placing the lens almost at ground level would further enhance this fine image.

Lovely image Steve. I like the alert pose and those wonderful huge backlit ears.
