While photographing burrowing owls at Cape Coral last March, I came across this individual that had (at the risk of coining a term) "black-shot" eyes that gave it a neurotic, stressed out look. Interestingly, it had body language to match. I'm not sure if it had been staying out too late at night, had been sniffing some strange drifting smoke, or what. :) It was paired to a normal looking and tame mate. I'm curious whether any of the rest of you have seen owls with eyes like this. 20D, 500 f/4, 1/500, f/11, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.
Not really seen, but if I remember well I found myself resembling to this owl at some mornings after hard day's nights :D
Very nice and interesting image.

I've seen them with the black-flecked eyes, but not as extensively as this. All in all, a nice image. It could use a bit of a crop from the bottom. later and love, artie
