This was taken at a set-up in Costa Rica. The pose is a fighting stance against a Green Honeycreeper. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

Great pose with nice detail! I might move the bird up slightly in the frame. It would have been cool to get both birds in the frame; such incredible colors!

    Jim:

Great pose, really unique. Love the plumage pattern and colors.nice catchlight, perch, sharpness.

I agree with Doug about trying the bird a bit higher in the frame, would depend on how the perch looks then.

    Was flash used?

    Cheers

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I had the flash on but it did not fire on this image. I will try a recrop with the Tanager higher in the frame. At one point the Tanager had a mouth full of another birds feathers.

I liked the crop on the repost more. Terrific details in this one, Jim. The angle of the bird is perfect...nice perch, exp., colors, plumage pattern, BG.....loved it a lot. Does full justice to the beautiful species.
