Went out and shoot with Sid this weekend. Right after sunrise. Taken with 600VR + 1.4TC and it was too close to get the back wing sharp. Almost full frame. 1/1250, f 5.6, ISO800, +1/3 EV.

Nicely composed for an almost full frame image. Sharp where it needs to be. Light is even and the wing position is good. I only wish the head was pointed slightly towards us.

I agree with Doug as it would of been nice having the head angled more towards us but you captured a nice wing position with excellent detail.

Troy, terrific capture. loved the wing position....brings out the elegance of this bird. Subject placement is perfect IMO.

Great color and I like the position of the wings. Like the different tones in the background as well.

Very good job with the breeding colored tricolored; exposure, flight position, detail, and the well handled white plummage which can be tricky. I don't understand why you could'nt increase the DOF and how being too close wouldn't allow it. Not that I think the slightly OOF back wing is a problem (I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it). Could be you didn't want to increase the ISO. By the way, what camera were you using? regards~Bill

Bill, It was set for the still shot and it suddenly took off.
    I was shooting with D3s.
