I posted a wider framing (70-200) of these 3 Cheetah bros (Snap, Crackle & Pop) some months ago and have gone for a closer crop with the 500 here, which takes out some of the distracting vegetation, giving a much cleaner BG.
Would have liked a touch more DOF, as the middle brother is just a touch sharper than the other two.

D3s 500VR 1/200s ISO400@f/7 Masai Mara, Kenya Sept 2010. Cropped a small lower section of mound.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Marc - Nice that they are all alert and looking almost in the same direction. Good POV. I find myself wishing that the rest of the legs of the 2 outer cheetahs were both included but don't know if that had to do with vegetation you wanted to get rid of. I think this is stronger if you crop the bright sky and distant hills out. A scroll crop shows it's very pleasing with just the brown bg.

    Marc,

Wonderful image. I would opt for a bit wider view to include a bit more habitat and legs.

I think this is a tough cropping decision with the 3 cheetahs so spread out. If you include all the legs and tails then you lose the emphasis on the faces. I like the tighter crop but also like the Rachel's suggestion of cropping out the sky and just having the brown background. Beautiful animals!

Prefer the repost Marc because of the above comments, nicely processed, just watch that horizon line.

    Thanks Steve & Dan

It's not a repost however, the initial post was taken with my 500, the second (which I posted some months earlier) was to show the wider perspective from my 70-200.

Prefer the 70-200 as it's more habitat/environment, as you say, it also has more perspective and to me, a lot more going for it IMHO, I did remember the OP too.

Hi Marc, I like both but as mentioned the inclusion of habitat adds more perspective. IQ is great and good to have all three facing forward.

+ 1 for cropping the sky in the first one. Feel that it would make for a stronger impactful image . The wider perspective is awesome too.
