    Default Blue Jay Blur.

While I was testing a new memory card this blue jay landed in the shrubs in front of my home so I made a few photos of the activity ... Made with D80 AF 75-300/4.5-5.6 on a tripod. F 6.3 @1/60s ISO 100 pp NX2.

Hi Jim, good thinking in trying to get the blue jay action with slow shutter speed. You got nice wing motion here. I wish for a more defined head. Also, it is a bit tight on the frame, IMHO. Thanks for Sharing

Jim, I love the colors and the wing blur is very nice. Indranil makes some good suggestions. But that front wing is lovely!

Jim, this is really cool. The colors are great - it reminds me of a whirling dervish

Cool jay blur, Jim. Especially like how the wing area came out, and the nice rich colors. Agree that head being more defined would make it a stronger image.

As others have said, that front wing is awesome! I can see why some would want the head to be better defined but to me, it looks perfect as it.

Thanks everyone so much for the comments and suggestions! I would have never tried this type of photo until I started visiting this forum and it's really interesting what you can make. All of you inspire me with the fantastic images you post. Thanks so much.

Hi Jim, you did a great job on this and I love that you thought about OOTB when you saw the opportunity! I love the motion and colors and of course that front wing and tail are super. For future thinking, even an eye would have put this one over the top. I hope you try some more and share them with us here!

Hi Jim, the blur to the wings is very nice and the colors are great too. I also wish for a little more detail in the head, but this is still quite lovely!
