Not a Pro bird photographer nor pretending to be ,I just love birds , limited by weather as its gloomy here in the south wales valleys most of the year ,and anything below iso 800 is a bonus . I have an early D300 + 70-300vr lens , and a few other accessories . I am in awe of the photographs on this website ,some truly wonderfull photographers ,and some wonderfull personalities too .
I will probably post ocassional pictures in the hope I can pick up some tips from members .
A big welcome to BPN! It is a great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer.
With your weather/light conditions, a D3S should come as standard equipment! I shoot a D300 and ISO 800 is about as high as I like to go, unless it is a very light subject and I can expose well to the right.
Look forward to your posts. If you feel more comfortable starting on the Eager to Learn Forum, it is a great place to get your feet wet, with lots of helpful folks and a bit more laid back critiquing style than the Avian forum.
Welcome Graham, I was in Wales twice for the Red Kites and I could not see my hand due to your wonderful white fog :) You have your work cut out for you. Now get posting!
