    Great BG, light looks harsh but reasonably well handled. Nice pose...Maybe ry open around the eye a lttle more...Nicely done Duane

    Photographed 3 hours prior to sunset so yes I agree..harsh light. The eye was already lightened up in post as it was in complete shadow and I felt if I went more it would look unnatural. Thank you for the critique.

    Fill flash would have helped but I don't use a flash.

    Good pose, perch, and BG (excpet I'd tone down the lighter area in front of the bill). Almost looks like an autumn setting! The comp could use a bit more room below if you have it. The light quality and angle did not help you here but you did best you could with it. If Blue Jays love shelled peanuts the same as they do up here you could attract them again by luring them with those.
