From this morning here in Sydney. The Dusky Moorhens are quite active chasing each other and fighting. I am still waiting to get a decent shot of a chase with the two in the frame - so far no luck as DOF is a major problem.

    Ofer:

Real sense of action here with active pose and flying water. Well exposed.
    Good shooting angle.

I know you wanted to keep the large water splash on left, but I would prefer if bird not quite so centered. Perhaps add some canvas on right.

    The feet are great.

    Cheers

    Thanks for your comments guys!
Randy, I feel that since the head of the bird is off centre - there is no problem of the subject being centred in here. Would love to hear what others think on this.
    Cheers,
    Ofer

    Ofer:

I see your point, but just looking at the masses of the image, the wing/body mass dominates the image and is what gives it the impression of being too centered for me.

    Personal taste.

Very nice action here Ofer - real sense of movement.

I would try a fraction off the bottom and some more canvas on the right. Well worth playing around with.

    The feet are working overtime.

    Lovely action shot.

I am with Tom for a slice off bottom and am a bit uncertain about adding to right. It is hard to tell how much would be needed to getaway from the feeling of a centred bird. I also agree with Tom that is would be well worth looking at some options. Perhaps even something radical like something off the right if there is anything left to add back to the left.

I really like the small complimentary band at top.

Good luck on getting two in frame.

Looks like the Aussie Coots are the same as ours here in SA, full of nonsense and wanting to run all over the place. Good action captured here.

    Great action and gorgeous water!
I think position of the bird works well given the splash on the left.
Might consider moving the bird even further to the right if you have more splash to include on the left.

    Looking forward to seeing two!
