    Default Something new?

There's nothing new, it's all been done. Right?
This is something I haven't seen before and wanted to share.

Driven by my need to create and more conventional Brown Pelican images than one person should have. I decided to "get stupid".

    Nikon D700
    Sigma 300-800mm @ 800mm
    ISO 400

    The thought process:
Backlighting for drama- expose at 1 stop over the exposure value for the same front lit subject.
F20 - to give the water spray depth.
1/125 - so water droplets look like streaks rather than drops.

Kinda looks like the pelican is surrounded by sparklers.

James, It does look like sparklers! I'm confused by your specs. F/20 OR F/29? 1/60 SEC OR 1/125 SEC?
Beautifully composed and I like the clear eye.

Definitely different from the norm, James, which I think makes it more interesting. I like all the water spray and the clear eye. I bet it would also look great as a B&W. I might tone down a few of the bright spots on the water and pelican.

Agree----a different approach. does look like fireworks. The clear eye settles it down.
Good to branch out into new ways!!!!

Hi James, excellent OOTB thinking. The sparklers are spectacular; love the light diffusion. Low angle makes it so much more interesting.

    James,

I like the effect and composition. Definitely unique and out of the box. Great job at getting the eye sharp. I can see it now... a Nik water sparkler effect filter being released in the near future.
