    Default Tiger Portrait

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, India

The light was fading fast and the tiger walked into a small hillock with only one part of its face and eye lighted. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 70-200 F2.8 L IS II USM, EF 2xII at 400mm, ISO 1250, 1/250, f6.3, handheld, full frame image. Processed in Lightroom 3.3.

I found the 70-200 f2.8 L IS II version of the lens works well with the 2xII Tc.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Sabyasachi - I like this a lot. The light and shadows really work well in the b&w. I like that you can see the other eye in the shadows. Do you have any more below? Well seen and captured.

Lovely conversion here, you've given the tiger a wonderful feel of mystery and intrigue with the lighting. Agree with Rachel that a little bit more below the tiger's chin would be nice, but no big thing. I like the eyes very much. I personally would tone down the one lighter twig coming down from the tiger's left eye.

I really like this Sabyasachi and good to see you pushing the B/W route.

First impression I wasn't too sure about it, as it looked just to dark, but the more you look into it, the more you see. I have to confess, I did play about, lightening & a tighter crop, but kept coming back to your OP. I like the contrast between the two halves of the head and that feel of mystery about it as Hilary has said. Would agree on a tad more at the foot of the image if possible and the removal of the twig across the bridge of the nose, (easy to do on the original).

The POV must have been even darker looking through the lens with the 2x, or because it is a faster lens the view is not as bad as the 500?

This is great! It has a very artistic feel. I would be tempted to remove the stick in front of the nose.

can only echo above comments Sabya! excellent conversion and mood, with it needing just a tad more space at the bottom for me :)
