    Why, because I can .

One of the very few images that I put subject forward in the frame, when moving or looking in that direction.

It works for me, how about you.

I love the detail on the fish, including the eye. The water droplets are well frozen which I think works very nicely. I don't mind the fish leaping out of the frame as it makes the image a little more edgy and the water ripples on the left hand side gives the feel of where the fish came from rather than needing space to see where it is going.

Only thing I would try for a comparison is to crop a little from the bottom without cropping the reflection.

We don't see many fish here, so this is very welcome.

... and I always thought a mullet was a hairdo

Nice image, Jim. I like the action in this image. I agree with Hilary and think it might look good with a pano crop immediately below the reflection (eliminating the FG blur).

Excellent timing James and I agree with Hillary the framing works well in this instance. Nice image overall.

    Lovely image James!

I have never photographed fish jumping out of the water. The water droplets are nice. Cropping slightly from the bottom - after the reflection end - will work as well. However, it is just as an option and I like the composition you have chosen.

    Cheers,

Well timed James, the water drops and low perspective enhance well.

I like this. Fish looks sharp and I like the composition. If anything maybe a bit off the bottom.

    James,

Glad you got a good head angle.

I would agree with the comments of more crop from the bottom.

The darkish setting really makes the fish standout extremely well, allowing the silver/golden colouration/highlights to come through very nicely. The water trail anddroplets just adds more depth to the image. Would also vote for less at the foot of the image, however this does fall nicely into RoT's, but personally I feel we should not let that 'rule' our thoughts on cropping or how the image should be presented, but it does give structure to the overall composition.

Please to see you posting here James, hope we may see you again soon.

James - nice to have you posting here and a different type of wildlife than the norm. I agree with the suggestion of a pano crop.

Thanks for the suggestions, I do prefer the crop with less room at the bottom.
