Photographed this female at the entrance to her burrow in Kgalagadi. Late afternoon in shade but liked the even light.

I was a bit close with the 500mm but no time to move or remove the converter so I had to add canvas top and left for comp, otherwise FF and added some warming filter.

    C&C most welcome.

Pieter - looks sharp for 1/100. I like the pose and muted colors of the bg. Since you already added canvas to the lhs, maybe a little more for the virtual tail?

    Pieter,
    Beautiful subject in it's habitat.

I noticed the cloning right away.
Try using a quick mask method or using a soft edge brush in a background layer.

Thanks for your comments James and Rachel.

Yes James some careless work on my part, and thanks for the advice.

Good point Rachel, will try that.

Hi Pieter, if you are revisiting the file you might perhaps ease of on the sharpening too, just looks a little more than required perhaps? Like the pose and soft muted colours on this one.

I do like the overall blending colors of the image, the subject and her background. I like the stance and head angle.

Looking that the head/eyes and the body, it appears to me that critical focus was on the body and not the eyes. If that is the case, you need to chose an AF sensor and place it at the eye.

love these guys Pieter, but I do concur with the critiques already made, I also noticed the oversharpened look initially, and Robert has a point on the focus point.
