OK, tried with a softer image. Do you think the background texture is too strong in this one?

Beautiful composition, Cheryl. I like the bg... I would have preferred a bit more saturated colors on the bird. Nice perch.

Cheryl, I love the texture here. Agree with Indranil on a little more saturation, especially in the perch/berries if possible. Nice capture too!

Nice work, Cheryl! I love the pose and texture. I think the BG texture is a little bit on the strong side, so I would decrease it just a little. Very well done!

Hi Cheryl, I'm going to swim upstream on the saturation, I think it adds an aged element to the image. I do agree that the texture could be toned down just a bit, and I think that would complete the old-time look for this one. Well done!

I really appreciate all of your comments! Thank you!

    OK, how about it now?
It looks stronger here, than when adjusting it. Is it still too strong?

I think it's still a bit strong but I like the saturation and detail in the bird much better than the OP. That's a really nice image of the bluebird.

Thank you, Judy. That is prob my best bluebird image. I think the texture is a bit too strong too.

    Cheryl,

I like the re-post much better than the original though I agree with Judy that the texture still seems a bit strong. Beautiful bluebird capture... stunning detail.

You might try bringing the texture effect way down on bird and perch while leaving it strong in the background.

    Cheryl,
I like the second repost much better. The pose and perch are perfect. Nice job.
Also for my taste I don't think the texture effect is too strong. If it were mine I might lighten up just a tad on the texture effect of the bird just a smidge not too much.
All in all very well done. Would make a beautiful print.

Texture looks great in the repost, Cheryl. I prefer the original comp though, and I think I would keep the saturation as it was in the OP too. Just my opinion.
