This fine pride male thought it time to escape the flies and escalating heat by sleeping up in this tree.

    D3 500VR 1/350s ISO200@f/8. Xakanaxa region/Okavango, Botswana Sept '09. cropped to vertical.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Great diagonal lines in this comp with enough habitat shown. The branch in lower riigh coming into the frame is a bit of a distraction but overall I like it very much.

    Marc,

I really like the fact you went for a laqrger look at the lion in the tree. Great depth of field gets it all sharp, nice lines in the tree (a diagonal) as well as lots of details in th e tree makes this a very interesting image to look at.

    Well done.

Marc - I agree, the comp works very well (although you said cropped to vertical :2). I like the habitat and the leading lines.

this is nice Marc, showing the intended behaviour well
I find a slight green cast to the image overall - should be easy to correct using colour balance in PS :)

    doesn't he know flies can...well...fly?

Hi Marc, love images with habitat, especially wonderful trees like this one. Like the composition, light and overall image design.

    Marc,
I like the design and anticipation of action.

What time of day was this?
On my monitor it looks like it would benefit from a warmer color temperature.

Hi Marc, all looks good to me. Like the dof, the subject matter and the story. I am left with one question, where are the frames following this one? I would like to see his ascent...
    Nicely done all around

In some respects Marc I like the 2nd post offering a wider POV. Like the alternative location too, makes a nice change.

Agree on the slight colour cast with the OP, but looks like you have corrected it with the 2nd one.
