DIA's main lobby in morning light... by dcstep, on Flickr

I tried to emphasize DIA's unique "tent" structure by focusing on the "poles" along the SE corner of the building. It's morning, so light is coming in from the east (left) side of the structure, adding to the contrast and lines. I tried color, but it just didn't seems as strong as this final B&W image.

Processed with DxO Optics Pro, with RGB to B&W conversion from RAW, added contrast and a small crop. The lens was my EF 24-105mm f/4L IS, hand held:

Hi Dave,Good candidate for black and white and I like the play between the posts and the ceiling. What I feel isn't helping the image is the lower portion showing the people, handrail and doors. I might have concentrated more on the forms and tried to create compositions using those subjects...

Dave has a good point about the lower part of the image. The persons and storefronts are distracting for two reasons. First, they are not what the image is about which is the lines, shapes and contrast. Secondly, because it is dark your viewer will struggle to figure out what is going on here and that is not something you want them to be doing.

When I crop sbove the persons and dark area, the image gets much stronger.

Dave and Robert, thanks for looking and thanks for your suggestions. I'll need to dig out my original file to see if I can get the balance I want and try your crop.

Dave - Some good points above but I sort of like the inclusion of the "Chapel" sign.

Yes Rachel, I said "thanks for ... the suggestions" but I haven't bought-in totally. Besides the chapel and cantina signs, the human elements add scale and I have an issue with cutting off the poles so that I can't see their bases and "foundations." I purposely left the shadows heavy there, but in the Original size you can see tons of details, which I enjoy reviewing.

I DO appreciate the feedback. That's why I posted.
