I am committed to posting some images from my 10th season in Antarctic in 2010. Can't believe I am only just now getting to the images.
This is a Black-browed Albatross interacting with a much smaller Rockhopper Penguin at the colony on Westpoint Island, West Falklands. They nest cheek-by-jowl and usually ignore each other, but occasionally this happens. I hope you can figure out what is going on!
I cropped the image from the left a little to put the albatross where I wanted him/her. I didn't want to remove too much because I like the look of the albatross' foot in the LR. Some very OOF vegetation was in the FG, particular right, so to reduce the impact I desaturated the area to remove the straw-coloured cast.
Hope you like it. Comments welcome.

Very engaging image. Reallly like the detail in the face, the square format, and the diagonals in the face and markings. The tips of the beak are a little soft. Believe the desaturation is noticable in the foreground compared to the vivid colors in the face. Assume the rockhoper backed off - I know I would have!
Love the sharp eye and the open bill but not the o-o-f veggies... Could there be a magenta cast?

Love the POV & eye on this, John. Like the soft brush of black around eye and the shading and detail in whites brings out the the sculpted contours of head very nicely. Well done!
Thanks for the comments so far. I looked at the image with the Digital Colormeter and the greys are running A = 0 (±), B = -4 (±) in LAB. This means the greys are neutral on the Magenta-Green range (A) and a have a hint of blue on the Yellow-Blue range (B).
