From my Alaska Bear Tour last summer. This sow and cubs came out of the high grass very close to us. Gave us a bit of a look. Heavy rain is coming down and it's very gloomy. I shot right through the high grass.

Hey Dale - the bear really pops off the screen. Almost looks 3D. Nice detail also in the fur. Steve

Great soft light, and love the texture of fur on this. Wish there was just a little more rain drops visible and pronounced in BG, but still a beautiful image!

The streak of rain , the detail , the eye contact make this one awesome image . If the OOF grass in the foreground was not there , it would have been ultimate !

All works for me on this one, i get a kind of feeling that the bear is coming right toward the camera. Super contrast between colours and texture of the bear against the complimentary OOF BG, and good details on the bear..excellent shot for me.

Looks like a huge sow. Great pose, comp, texture and detail. The rain adds to the mood of the image.

I feel your pain on the sometimes tough conditions there; same as mine last year; but you did great with this image. Nice detail and lack of deep shadows due to the overcast.

I would lighten the left side (your left) side eye and face some where it is dark for better clarity in the eye.

Love the soft light, wet fur detail, eye contact and just the right amount of DOF Dale, VWD.
