So glad they are back on our Long Island beaches for the summer. This one seemed tired so I created a few images then left him alone.

    Lovely soft and complimentary colours.

The bright light has been handled very well and little bird seems just the right size in frame.

If mine I would probably take a slice off the bottom.

Very nice photo and plover does look tuckered out.

Beautiful soft light and colours, awesome sharpness and detail. I feel the image is a bit too bottom heavy and I am not sure about all the space top and right. Here is a more conventional crop - would be interesting to hear what people think.

I like the original , but would take a bit off the bottom. Beautiful image with great details and fine exposure.

Thanks, everyone. Appreciate your suggestions on the crop..I like the idea of trimming the bottom, but personally I like space and really don't care to crop very much.

In some images , too much negative space is a bad thing. Not so in this one. I feel the image calls for this space as part of the story being told.

Nicely done Grace with a matching color palette and a super low shooting angle. Crop-wise I would probably be in between these two.

Hi Grace, it's interesting that the more I look at your original the more I like the space all around...
My repost looks totally off to my eyes now...
This whole thing with personal taste for composition and harmony is very interesting and I wonder where it all comes from. How can it be that a certain image will look "wrong" to me and after a few days I will actually think it is lovely....go figure...

Grace, Lovely image. Nice pose and the shells really add to it. Glad they are back too!

Thanks for commenting again, Ofer. I think that is why forums like this are so valuable, at least for me, I get alot of food for thought and do try and think about what everyone has to say. In the end, it's probably personal style and a reflection of the moment that the photograph attempts to convey. This little bird seemed rather forlorn, worn out, and tired, and perhaps that is why the space seems important to me. Thanks to everyone else who weighed in on this photograph as well, I do appreciate it.
