My local Belted Kingfishers have always eluded me, but this little lass in Costa Rica, hardly bigger than a hummingbird, posed nicely for just a moment. Hand-held from a boat, in low light. Experimented with high ISO with the new D7000; sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Very nice Bill. looks like conditions were quite tough for shooting from such a short distance. You did quite well. loved the soft lihgt, BG and comp. Being so close to such a small bird must have been something. My hands would have been shaking from the excitement :-)
Fantastic shot. Great subject, nice perch, and a beautiful background. My wife loves that bird and I can't wait to show her this image tonight. It's incredible to think that you got that at ISO 3200.
I really love high ISO capabilities on the D7000, especially when you consider that it's considered a consumer level DX camera. I took usable documentation shots at me feeder through dirty low-E glass at ISO 6400. The shots will never make a magazine cover, but they certainly aren't a grainy mess.
