Default Howdy from Down under. Adelaide, Australia.

    Hi All,

I am from Adelaide, South Australia. At this point I'd say I'm 'Semi Professional', in that I do photography Professionaly, but it dosn't yet pay the bills on its own. I have not had any formal training in art or photography, like most things, I'm self taught.

Up until this year I mainly did landscape photography with the occasional 'nature' shot, but have decided I really want to get into long-Lens bird and wildlife photography. Hence joining BPN, hassling Art for gear recomendations (which he graciously provided), spending way too much money on his webstore, and reading everything I can get my hands on.

Currently I shoot with the following Kit.

Fotoman 617, 90mm SuperAngulon-XL with Fuji Velvia 50. (Yup, still shoot film, tho its prob ending this year)
Bodies: Canon 1Ds III, Canon 1D IV (Just got the mk4)
    Zoom Lenses: 16-35 f2.8, 24-105 f4, 70-300 f2.8, 70-200 f4, Sigma 150-500 (bleh)
    Primes: 24mm TS-E, 45mm TS-E, 90mm TS-E, 300mm f2.8 (the Tilt-Shifts are my bread-and-butter lenses for Landscape work)
Gitzo Tripod, and the usual collection of Acratech, Wimberly and RRS heads, plates yada yada.
PS: Very soon to buy a 500/600/800 soon as I work out exactly which I'm getting.

I'd describe myself as a self confessed 'geek' and bit of a gear head, who struggles with the asthetic and compositional side of photography constantly. The technology is easy, the 'Art', not so much.

My wife and I both love camping and touring, and are constantly travelling in outback Australia in our Landcruiser. Luckily I also travel internationaly a fair bit for work, so can combine landscape shoots with these trips.

Currently, of all the recent shoots, the best one so far was shooting the Eyjafjallajokul Volcano in Iceland Last year with Seth Resnick. And I'm dying to go back !

You can find some of my work here www.markfarnan.com (Website really needs work)

    Enough Rambling !

    Regards

    Mark Farnan
