Wow! Awesome in flight pose, exposure, color, detail, BG, sharpness all just fantastic!
Great as is, but if possible might try to get a bit more detail in shadow area of lower wing, and also try rotating so wingspread has a diagonal line to it. Super capture!

Thanks for the comments - I'll consider rotating it for a repost. I actually forgot to mention that I did desaturate and lighten the sky... but maybe it needs some more?

Did a few quick adjustments before work this morning... lightened the sky just a little bit more, added slightly more detail in the shadow area, and rotated to increase the diagonal angle of the wings in the frame. Comments?

    Wow - what an image!

They must come pretty close, or you have an incredible 70-200L copy, to get that IQ with just 200mm focal length, even after cropping.

Allen, the 70-200/2.8 II is very sharp - but the bird was certainly close. I only cropped in from the left and right. Top and bottom are as-is.

    thanks

Fantastic shot Charles! The pose is great, the feather detail exemplary and you nailed the exposure right on. Well done...

    Charles,

Fantastic image!! I really like the vertical crop and the detail in the feathers. The phase angle looks to be about 45 degrees giving that feather detail. Well done.
