    Default Trying Andrew's Minimal Fractilus - Ruddy Duck

    Hi Folks;

    Cheryl was kind enough to send me this:

    Cheryl, I like using the"Rounded" preset with the "strength" and "linewidth" sliders reduced. The other sliders I play around until I getsomething I like, but I finally saved it as a "preset" to save time.

    I usually use CS5 - 64 bit, but as Fractilus only installs in 32 bit I opened up that version with original Ruddy Duck in full color. Opened Fractilus, selected "Rounded" couldn't find "Strength" but reduced Sharpen & line width & played with other sliders until BG was nearly white.
    With fractilus version of Ruddy duck in workplace & layers I first pressed Ctrl+J to make a duplicate layer, then I went to image>curves>presets> lighten> increased lighten considerably. Then clicked mask icon (Square with centered hole) on bottom line of layers. I pressed "D" for default colors, Black & white, can be reversed by pressing X. Selected Black & medium soft brush and painted over Duck to reveal original color. If I make a mistake, I select white brush to correct.

    This is what I ended up with.

    CC's needed to point out my mistooks

    Thanks to Cheryl for the link to Andrew's tutorial (Another good Canuck)

    Warm regards

    Gus

    Love the high key frac effects, Gus! Original looks great, too.

    Nice blue bill Gus! I like the effect. It seems a touch on the green side-maybe too much yellow? Let's see what others say. Love the water wake.

    Head angle police might have something to say...but lovely duck and effect, Gus.

    Lovely Gus, I too really like the high-key effect here. I agree with Denise on the green, especially on the head reflection. Very nicely done!

    Beautiful work, Gus. Love the filter treatment and minimalist look. I think Denise has a good point on the color. Well done!
