    Default Sunrise

By sheer luck I was on the Causeway to Sanibel Island, Florida at sunrise. I was able to pull over and take some shots. Unfortunately there was a building on the opposite shore but I used content aware for the first time to remove it.

    Canon 7D
    100-400 @ 380mm

    HH, slight crop

    C&C welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks,

Hi Rachel, Beautiful color and good placement of the sun. Nice as presented but would also be strong cropped down to a pano.

Rachel, nicely captured! I love big sunrise/sunsets with the sun almost centered. Lovely colors too! I agree with Dave that this would also work well as a pano crop for an alternate version. Nice work!

    Rachel,

I feel you need to go to the pano to make this work at its best. I would crop just above the dark part of the water.

In a browser crop it really comes alive for me. My only problem then is that the sun is now oddly placed in the image. I downloaded into PS and cropped to a RoT placement. Easier to upload then describe so here it is.

Thanks all for the kind comments and suggestions. Robert - nice repost. I'll play around with the crop some.

I played around a bit and now I can't decide which I like best.

I like Robert's repost but I also went a little more pano and kept the sun centered. Thoughts ?

    Racheal,

I like your repost - much better with the sun centered. I would take a bit more off the bottom to not have the small dark strip there.

Nice shot Rachel. I really like the colors, especially of the sun. Did you use a ND or GND filter?

Rachel, stupendous colours here, just love them. I like the pano crop with the sun centred, it gives the image a sort of "in your face" boldness which the colours support. Nothing tentative about this sunrise.

Wonderful sunrise composition, Rachel! Amazing rich color. Crops are always a challenge, and I often obsess way too long in making a decision, however, I agree, your final pano crop is just awesome. Very nicely done!

    Hey Rachel,
Been away so a bit late ot the party! I like Robert's repost......or your version with a bi more room up top.....to include the entire cloud (1/2 inch or so).......that is my favorite. Nice luxury to have on an all around very nice comp!
