Default A Common Redpoll before they depart...

Any day now these beautiful arctic birds will go back onto their journey north for the breeding season. Hard to believe they call southern Canada / northern U.S. as their "southern" winter homes! Good for us as they add a nice splash of colour on certain gloomy winter days...

Canon 30D + 100-400L @350mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/6.3, ISO 800, +1 EC, natural light, handheld, ~85% FF. Eliminated two unsightly bright OOF branches in URC.

Hi Daniel, like the color combo here. Looks like the wind was blowing a little and he is hanging on tight. Also like the expression, sharpness, HA, perch and the grip of the lower foot.

Good angled pose Dan, tack sharp where it counts, and the reds do stand out nicely on his plumage. Lovely complimentary BG too.
