    Don't know if this qualifies as extreme, but I couldn't focus any closer.

    50D, EF400mm f/5.6L
    Manual mode, f/5.6@1/2500 ISO 400 WB 5100K
    AI Servo autofocus, hand-held no flash

    Excellent exposure on the blacks Kerry, and the red eye really pops nicely. This works for me.

    If this was taken up here then I'd say this is extreme!! Coots are not as easy to find or easy to approach in my neck of the woods

    Awesome details, and good job on the exposure. The red eye is fantastic. I could see the coot placed a little more to the left of the frame, but very nice!

    Excellent Coot. Very nice exposure, the red eye is pretty cool. Love the background. almost looks like a backdrop from a studio. Great detail on the blacks, great job.

    Nice exposure Kerry - coots are always tough with that black plumage and ivory beak. The detail in the eye is great and I like the "dreamy" swirls in the background.

    Well done. I like it. Exposure between the blacks and white beak was difficult and you did it well.
