One of the most beautiful kingfisher which migrates to our city . The only problem being , it comes during monsoons and chooses to perch in the darkest of the places .

WOW!!! Gorgeous KF...I like the colors, BG and perch...HA is not perfect( Just behind) where it needs to be...And there is a bit noise visible on the BG and subject, but could have something to do with the ISO and light available...Also could be from trying to lighten the image in PP...TFS Rakesh

    Rakesh:

A lovely fellow indeed. Great colors, nice BG, well exposed, excellent catchlight.
    Perch nicely scaled to bird.

The high ISO you needed is showing up as fine noise throughout the image.
Head is a bit away from us.

Is judicious use of fill flash an option for you under these difficult conditions?

    Cheers

Beautiful bird, and nicely captured. Lovely colors in bird and bg. Nice perch and comp. Good comments above. You might try another round of NR or Despeckle on the bg, but the fine noise on the bird is not bothersome to me.

A beautiful bird.Great composition and the bird is giving you his best side.
I think you have made the best of the light conditions and the suggestion of a tad of fill flash might be the answer to the background noise.

Rakesh, lovely looking KF, with such amazing colours. We unfortunately dont have this species here. To add to the others, I would maybe neaten up the eye and catchlight. Although looking away, he does look like he's posing proudly.

great specie Raskesh very colorful and handsome, nice perch too. Unfortunately the details are lacking either from high ISO or crop and the KF is grainy.

Rakesh Sir, I NEED to go to Mumbai to see these flying gems, now just need to hunt up an excuse!

Noise on the bird's body doesn't bother me, NR on bg would make it butter smooth, but, IMHO make it look artificial, inconsistent with the noise on the body. Hence I feel this is the best compromise in terms of techs and processing for this light situation. bit of head turn nearer would make it nicer.

Overall, an awesome image, thanks for sharing!!!

What a beautiful bird, love color and nice small perch. I might try to do some selective NR on image like the background and small part of the bird. Good composition. Wish the background is bit cleaner.

To me, this is just beautiful ! Perhaps a bit more sharpening to the feathers on the top part of the head (you decide how much).

Thank you for giving us this beautiful kingfisher, Rakesh. The noise on the bird bothers me. I need more experience with Canon products, and so I can't know whether the problem is that ISO 2000 is too much of a push for your model or whether other problems led to the noise. I can say this, though: for a bird perching still, I might have tried for extreme image stabilization, that is, locking the camera and lens in place, turning off image stabilization (Nikon calls it "vibration reduction"), turning down ISO, and using a shutter release cable. I've taken shots of motionless birds at exposure times of 1/1 and slower with excellent sharpness and little noise. ISO isn't the only cause of noise, but it's a prime contributor, perhaps (correct me if I'm wrong) the single biggest contributor.
