    Default Ruby-throated Hummingbird on Fushsia

    Ruby-throated Hummingbird

    The Woodlands, TX

    D300s, 300, ISO 250, f14, 1/250, multiple flash set up.

This image was taken this morning as I was testing some new triggers system I bought.
To get the background, I took some images of the Fuchsia plant and printed it out being careful to make sure the size and the color of the flowers were correct (not an easy task). Thanks for looking.

Nice shot Alan. I have never been able to get anything close to that good of a picture of a Hummingbird.

You did really well with the BKGD - a novel approach. Suspect many won't appreciate how hard it was to match BKGD flower size to real flowers.
Your positioning of flashes gave nice lighting to the Fushsia and HB while also allowing some contrast from BKGD

Although the wing position is interesting, personally i would have preferred separation of the right wing from the flower

Still a winner - great job
